With the first few weeks of college over, many of us may feel as if we’ve become unhealthy which in turn can make us feel unhappy. This extra weight known as ‘Freshers 15’ can be down to the excess alcohol and food that many students indulge
in within the first few weeks. As enjoyable as the last while may have been, it’s vital for our physical and mental health that we get back to feeling healthy for the rest of the semester. Here are some tips to get you back to feeling your best!
1. Get Enough Sleep
As tempting as it is to go out every night or stay in watching Netflix till the early hours of the morning, it’s so important that we get at least 7 hours of sleep each night. Make your sleep a priority and you’ll feel better sooner than you thought.
2. Walk Everywhere
It’s easy when you’re not feeling your best to drive everywhere but by walking you will not only lose weight, you’ll actually function better throughout the day because of the increased blood flow throughout your body.
3. Eat Well
There are different opinions when it comes to different diets out there but it’s universally accepted that by eating less processed foods, eating more fruits and vegetables and drinking more water you will lose excess weight and feel better both physically and mentally.
4. Join a Society
As the craziness of the first few weeks is out of the way, many people begin to feel stressed about college work. By joining a new society you are pushing yourself outside your comfort zone which is incredibly beneficial for your mental health. It’s not too late to sign up – just pop into the Clubs and Socs office to find out more!

Appreciate how hard it is to settle into student life. Now that the first few weeks are over, start to focus on yourself and your physical and mental wellbeing. You are your number one priority!
